Kelvedon United Reformed Church - Window Appeal
We are trying to raise funds to help with the cost of replacing our old single glazed windows.
We are a local church, built by local people, and the foundation stone for our Church was laid on 14th June 1853.
We are a vibrant church situated in the centre of the beautiful village of Kelvedon, Essex, and are regularly used by a large number of local community groups who use our facilities for meetings and events, and we have a thriving congregation every Sunday for worship.
Our problem is the state of our current windows which are well over 100 years old now and are at that the point where they can no longer be repaired or strengthened any further.
We need to replace our single glazed windows with double glazed units, but due to being in a Conservation area we are not allowed to replace them with anything other than wood framed units, which has increased our costs substantially. The cost of replacement totals a massive £164,000.
We also struggle in the Winter months as due to the single glazing on all our windows, as the poor state of the surrounding woodwork, our heat loss is enormous as well which in addition increases our heating and utility bills.
By replacing all of our windows with energy efficient double glazed units this will make the church a much more welcoming place for the community to meet and worship.
We have already achieved the "Silver Award Winner 2024" status as an ECO Church by ecochurch.arocha.org.uk and are aiming for the "Gold" award.
We are also raising funds through running local events and have applied for grants and loans to help with the cost.
We are aiming to raise £50,000 - £80,000 to help pay for the cost and to help repay the various loans we have applied for.
